Mickey Dees Freebies

As an anniversary gift to me today, McDonald's is giving away free chicken sandwiches to anyone who purchases a medium or large drink! I must admit that they don't hold a candle to the original Chic-Fil-A sandwich but you know, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. They're free until 7 pm today.

Hubster took me out to the golden arches for a romantic anniversary treat. We went through the drive-thru line and got ourselves hot fudge sundaes. Ain't we living the high life? Seriously though, after the week I've had dealing with insurance claims and the hassle of finding a reliable vehicle to replace our silver bullet, it was a welcome relief. I've cried myself to sleep over it all twice this week. So, as redneck as it sounds, I really was thrilled to be getting a $1 icecream with my dear Hubby. We joked around and teased each other. And the cares of the past few days seemed to slip away.

It really was sort of romantic.

Anne Girl Giveaway Winner ...

The quotes submitted for my Anne of Green Gables giveaway were simply amazing! Y'all really made me think. I had fun checking out your blogs, too. So many of you seem like kindred spirits! Maybe that's because we all have a fondness for Anne.

Anyway, the prize goes to KristenKJ at No Small Thing for her quote by Charles Dickens.
Incidentally, she takes her blog name from this quote. You can read about that story here.

"It is no small thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us." ~Charles Dickens

Thank you for all of your entries! I had so much fun "meeting" all of you. Until next time,

Anne Girl Giveaway

When I went to the bookstore in search of Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery and the clerk had to escort me to the children's section, I must admit, I was a little embarrassed. I had the sinking sensation that perhaps my girlhood friend Anne would not live up to the idealizations I've cast in my memory.

But it turns out that a kindred spirit remains a kindred spirit at any age. I have loved, loved, LOVED reacquainting myself with this delightful little girl. Only now I find myself equally drawn to the other kindred spirits in the book. I want to know more about Miss Stacy, for example. She seems like such a good teacher. And I had forgotten about Mrs. Allen, as well.

Anyway, tomorrow night I plan to post some of my favorite quotes from the book. If you'd like a chance to win a FREE copy of Anne of Green Gables (not my copy, since I want to read it again, but another copy without any flu germs on it) then you need to post your favorite quote (it does not have to be from the book) in my response section before midnight Wednesday Sunday night. (Time extended to fit in with the Bloggy Giveaway carnival. Check it out for more chances to win free stuff!)

I will pick MY favorite of the quotes posted and then I will get in touch with the winner so that I can ship you a brand new copy of Anne of Green Gables (most likely from Amazon.com). Please make sure that I can contact you. I am not a mind reader. So please, leave a link to your blog or an e-mail address where I can find you if you win!

Enjoy!

Drumroll, please...

And the winner of the $25 gift card to Target is .... Absigail! Congratulations and thanks for playing. Later in January I plan on participating in the great big Bloggy Giveaway hosted by Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer. So come back for another chance to win a prize.

Here's a recap of 2007.

The year began with the wedding of one of my cherished friends from high school. Isn't she beautiful?

A few weeks later we found out we were pregnant!
My first semester as a teacher was like a really fun roller coaster ride. This picture was taken during summer flagline practice.

Then in September Baby Bri was born.
(We love this blanket, by the way and we use it all the time!)

In November we visited family to celebrate Thanksgiving and Bri got to meet her cousins.

Our Bridoodle kept growing and acquired new tricks like laughing and cooing.

And we celebrated Christmas with lots of family love and fattening food. And hand sanitizer. Yet we still managed to be sick on Christmas day.

A Review of 2007 *Giveaway Challenge*

2007 has been an amazing year! And I thought it would be fun to remember a few special days. In random order I've posted pictures from my life in 2007 (the letter is listed BENEATH the photo). Do you think you can put them in the correct order? The first person to list them in the correct chronological order in my comments section will be the winner of a $25 Target gift card. I honestly have no idea how long this might last. I hope it isn't too easy. I'll post the captions and dates for the pictures when I announce the winner. Have fun! And Happy New Year's Eve!!

Only one entry per person please.

And the winner is ....

#49 .... The Mommy Years!!

The giveaway extravaganza hosted by Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer was a huge success in my opinion. It was a treat to find so many cool bloggers but most of all, I won't lie, it was very flattering to have 79 or so people interested in my painting.

I made my way over to each and every blog page that posted a comment on my giveaway page and I have to tell ya I was very impressed. Along the way I found some spectacular people and lots of spunky, creative, chic blogs that were all very intimidating (hence my blog makeover, did ya notice?). A perfect example is our winner ... chosen by random.org ... #49 ~ The Mommy Years, a sleek simple blog about her adorable family including Princess Noodle. You should check it out!

I'm stealing this quote from her post yesterday because it was so cute! "If for some strange unheard of reason she's been stung by 100 ants, run off to join the circus, been kidnapped by wild boar or just fallen off the side of a mountain & doesn't contact me by Wednesday night ~ I'll pick a new winner."

Check back soon for another art giveaway!!!
