You see, although everyone talks about how hard it is for the mom to forget the pain of labor, it's really the dad who agonizes the most. My pain only lasted for 36 1/2 hours, but his pain, this excruciating attack on our financial resources, has already lasted for more than three months.
I don't think he will forget this pain for a very long time...

Just remember that the first child always costs more than subsequent ones. For your first you need EVERYTHING and that adds up to a lot of money. We were careful and bought a lot of gender neutral items so we could use them for #2. We were lucky and had a second boy, but even if we had a girl, she would have worn lots of blue here.
My mother told me that my younger brother used to wear a lot of pink at home to play when he was a baby. She said it didn't hurt and she did not need as much new clothing.

I hear you on waiting a long time. I always said, when people asked us how many kids we wanted, "We'll start with one and see how it goes!" We do hope to have at least one more, and Annalie is already 3.5 and people have started getting less subtle in their hinting and questioning. ;-) We're mainly waiting for the Navy to figure out if they're sending Troy overseas for a year without us--we'd much rather he were around for a second child's birth.
